As you know steel prices have increased dramatically since the beginning of the year. All indications are that pricing will remain unpredictable for the remainder of 2004.
These price increases have had a substantial cost impact on our liftgates. More importantly, we have had to accept daily changes in steel prices to assure our customers a reliable supply of products. Steel producers are becoming increasingly selective about the business they will accept during these times. We assure you that we are working closely with our suppliers to maintain an adequate supply of materials.
Since steel is the primary base material for our products, we are forced to institute a base metal surcharge on our products based on weight. Please see your Waltco price books or product specification sheets for liftgate weights.
We will continuously monitor the steel market and post updated surcharge information to this page.
We appreciate your continued support of Waltco and we assure you that we will continue to work diligently to hold the cost of our liftgates to the lowest possible level and maintain our ability to ship on a timely basis.
Sincerely,
Eric Blashford
V.P./General Manager
